A Smile Goes A Long Way
Written by W.K. Edited by Vivienne Recently, I wondered if laughter and smiles are as important as life in the future. I think back to the times I have laughed. I see a dog that is cute and I smile, I see something funny and I laugh, I’m playing around with friends and laughing. I think I’ve walked every day with a lot of smiles. It’s those times when I have smiled and laughed that made situations better. I’m in the badminton club and had a badminton tournament recently. I’ve been practicing in singles, but due to the number of people, I decided to make a doubles team.To be honest , I was happy to be able to form a doubles team this time. The reason is that when I was in the first year of junior high school, I once participated in a singles tournament, and I was so nervous that I couldn’t relax.I was impatient, and I was afraid of my opponent, the shuttle, and the court. However, I was able to finish in 3rd place in this tournament. And I think it’s because of my smile that I was able to finish in 3rd place. At the time of the tournament, the adviser teacher made me laugh by saying puns and strange things. The teacher says, “Relax, have fun and play!” Even so, when I was led by the teacher, I was impatient and my face was stiff. My partner looked like she wanted to cry because she thought that she made the other person score points due to her mistake. I told her, “It’s okay! Just laugh!” From then on, as I smiled and shouted, I was able to lose myself in the match, and I was able to finish in 3rd place. So I realized that smiling changed the result so much. Next, do you know about ‘Animal therapy? Healing people’s hearts by interacting with animals is called animal therapy. In particular, therapy dogs are highly sought after by various people such as children who have to stay in the hospital due to illness, people with autism, and elderly people. I think animals can also be a catalyst for making smiles. I have two dogs, but when I’m sad or frustrated, just looking at them calms me and makes me smile. I don’t think it’s just me. Many people around the world are healed by animals, soothing and smiling. Just by laughing, you can forget what you were worried about or that you were having a hard time. Is that very important for future happiness in life? I think it is. If you laugh freely at something, you will want to laugh from the bottom of your heart. A smile gives people hope, courage, and relaxation. A smile paves the way for life, I think that a smile will open a closed heart. Being able to laugh unconsciously and laughing every day makes you happy. I hope that a day will come when the whole world will be full of smiles.
